Esso Firexx HF-DU 68
Esso Firexx HF-DU 68
Firexx HF-DU 68 is based on a balanced blend of synthetic poloyol ester fluids that provide outstanding results in flame propagation and hot surface tests. Its inherently high viscosity index and low pour point suit it for use over a wide temperature range. Its high viscosity index makes it suitable for all applications where either an ISO 68 or an ISO 46 mineral-oil-based anti-wear oil can be used.
Features and Benefits
Firexx HF-DU 68 is a leading member of the Esso brand of FIREXX less hazardous and fire resistant hydraulic fluids products, recognised for their high quality and reliability, as well as performance capabilities in tough conditions. This family of products is manufactured to the strictest quality standards. Firexx HF-DU 68 offers the following advantages:
- Outstanding lubricity and antiwear performance - more effective in preventing pump wear than mineral hydraulic fluids
- Excellent corrosion protection, equivalent to mineral oils and far superior to water-based products
- High Flash Point and Auto-ignition Temperature, significantly greater than for mineral oils, making it exceptionally safe to store and use.
- Its anhydrous nature means that there is no water to "explode" into steam if the fluid contacts very hot metal.
- High degree of compatibility with most standard hydraulic system components used in mineral service.
- It is also miscible and compatible with mineral oil, other polyol esters, phosphate esters and many mineral/synthetic blends, though admixture may compromise its excellent performance features.
- Esso Firexx HF-DU 68 is less dense than water and so floats on top of water and can be readily reclaimed by skimming.
- Esso Firexx HF-DU 68 and its products of hydrolysis are non-toxic
Applications
Firexx HF-DU 68 is compatible with most standard hydraulic system components used in mineral oil service, including hose and seal material. However, seal compatibility should be checked whenever fluids are changed. It is miscible with other polyol-ester fluids. Although compatible with mineral oils, the two should not be mixed, since this may compromise the "less hazardous" status of Firexx HF-DU 68.
Esso Firexx HF DU 68 is recommended for applications where fire hazard is an important concern. It is also recommended: where mineral anti-wear hydraulic fluids, ISO VG 46 and 68 are used; for high-pressure applications up to 10,000 psi and temperature up to 93ºC; where a less hazardous product without the cost of complex conversion of the hydraulic system is required; for environmentally-sensitive applications where easy separation from water is important.
Specific applications include:
- Die-casting machinery
- Welding equipment
- Furnace door, oven and overhead ladle crane controls
- Scrap metal bailers
- Plastic injection moulding equipment
