Shell Alexia LS
Shell Marine Products have developed a special high performance cylinder oil with a low Base Number (BN) - Shell Alexia LS.
Possible Effects Of Low Sulphur Fuel Oil In Low Speed Engines
Sulphur emission control regulations (MARPOL Annex VI) mean that, in certain areas of the world, low speed engines will have to burn low sulphur fuel oil. The immediate impact will be the need for a much greater focus by engine operators on making sure that good engine running is maintained when changing between fuel types.
At Shell Marine Products we have developed a special high performance cylinder oil with a low Base Number (BN) - Shell Alexia LS. Shell Alexia LS ensures excellent cylinder lubrication of modern low speed engines when burning Low Sulphur Fuel Oil. It has been proven to promote a cleaner engine and minimise component wear and improve engine performance.
- Imbalance between Sulphur and cylinder lubricant Base Number leads to excessive deposits on piston top lands, piston rings and in piston ring grooves/ring lands.
- Deposits can disturb the lubricant film and interfere with piston ring operation
- Scuffing
Resulting in damage to cylinder liners.
Shell Alexia LS Can Help To Prevent This.
Key Benefits Of Shell Alexia LS
- Minimises component wear
- Promotes a cleaner engine
- Improves engine performance
- Ensures lowest 'whole life' cost of engine operation
